Well, for those of you who have watched me for over 2-3 years, do you guys remember the BEAUTIFUL Otis Elevonic 401s that were a Custom Installation with EPCO Flushline fixtures with Brass COPs that were practically in MINT CONDITION? The ones that I got a retake a year after discovering KONE was going to destroy all of the elevators??
Well, it's been 2 years now since my last visit and I've tried coming back during that time to check on these, but I haven't been able to unfortunately. But FAST FORWARD 2 years later, I FINALLY managed to make it back here, and indeed, KONE Modernized all of the banks of elevators here INCLUDING the service and shuttle elevators!!!! They were still modding one of the low rise cars as of my most recent visit, but aside from that, the BRAND NEW KONE Mod is COMPLETE!!!
Now, being I'm notorious for disliking KONE, and being the Parking Elevator Replacement was so flimsy, as well as the Lobby Elevator (which had a OPEN GAP between the COP and wall where you could get ELECTROCUTED if you put your hand in there when the mod first happened), you're probably wondering what I think of the completely modernized product here, and how it turned out, and I'm also wondering what you guys think.
Overall, despite how terrible they did with the Parking Elevators and Lobby Elevators, KONE actually did a pretty fantastic job with the mod on the New Passenger and Shuttle elevators at least mechanically. I do however still question how long they will last however, and this has nothing to do with KONE, but rather all elevators with these new Touchscreen fixtures. Being these have backlit Touchscreens to operate the elevators that are CONSTANTLY ON inside ELEVATORS inside of a BUSY Office Building, I do question how long they will last until they burn out and will have to at least have their COPs replaced..... I also, question why these is another indicator in between the Door Open and Close buttons, it looks VERY WEIRD!!! Plus, even though they kept the cabs and bells in the lobby original on the passenger cars unlike the parking elevators, I still wish these elevators were still original as a whole. ESPECIALLY since they were in PERFECT Shape, and these were some of the LAST Elevonic 401s remaining in Orlando and they were some of the few Elevonic 401s on YouTube with Generic fixtures, in this case, EPCO Flushline, as opposed to Series 1 or Lexan.
At least on the positive side, I got to ride these and get a couple videos of these before these were modded, and I even got to bring Train&Elevatorfan8150 along for the ride before the mod!!! (Please sub to his channel if you haven't already) The New Parking and Lobby Elevators aren't included in this video since I got a video of them a couple years ago when they were in the Early stages of the Mod Project, but with that all being said, here is a Compilation video of the Main High Rise Passenger, Shuttle and Service Elevators here Both Before & After Modernization!!! And this is my first take here since the Mod has taken place as well!!! :)
All of the Elevators were originally Otis Elevonic 401 with EPCO Flushline fixtures with Series 1 lanterns and call stations on the service car, and now they all have Touchscreen COPs with Innovation Prestige Door Controls and Call stations but the cabs were untouched, with the exception of the Service Car which has a new cab, as well as Innovation Bruiser fixtures. All of these new modded KONE elevators have New Controllers and either Revolution or Minispace Motors.
Anyways, with that all being said, enjoy the video!!!
Installed in 1986.
