Eda skans was active between 1657 to 1815, a bastion style fortress with earthwork walls, wood pallisade, 6 bastions added in 1676. At the peak in 1808, Eda skans had 700 men and 28 cannons with another 180 men and 11 cannons in 3 smaller outer fortresses. Located in west Sweden close to the border with Norway, it was built to protect against Danmark-Norway invasions.
