Chicken Calzone recipe
For the dough:
All purpose flour -3 cups ( 385g)
Instant yeast -1 teaspoon
Sugar-1&1/2 teaspoon
Salt-1 teaspoon
Oil -3 tablespoon
Lukewarm water -1 cup ( 250 ml)
( Make sure the water is not hot).
Chicken filling:
Boneless chicken ( cut into small cubes)
Oil-1 tablespoon
Garlic finely chopped -1&1/2 teaspoon
Onion-1/2 cup ( finely chopped)
Salt-1/2 teaspoon
Pepper powder -1/2 teaspoon
Oregano -1/2 teaspoon
Paprika-1 teaspoon
Tomato paste -1/2 teaspoon ( optional)
Mozzarella cheese
Pizza sauce
Egg-1 ( egg wash )
Method:
In a large bowl Mix water, sugar, yeast, oil and add the flour and salt.
Stir until a dough is formed.
The dough has to be sticky.
Knead for 5-8 minutes until you get a soft dough.
Cover and let it rest for 60-90 minutes.
Filling:
Heat a pan and add oil.
Saute onion and garlic.
Add the chicken and cook over high flame for about 5 monutes.
Add the spices and tomato paste and cook covered for 13-15 minutes/ Untill the chicken is done.
Divide the dough into four equal parts and roll out to medium sized circles.
Add pizza sauce, Mozzarella cheese and the prepared chicken.
Fold and seal the calzones well.
Apply egg wash.
Preheat the oven at 200C for 10 minutes, then bake the calzones at 200C for about 15-20 minutes.
Once done take out the calzones from the oven and Brush some oil / butter while it is still hot.
