Let's be honest.. YouTube is really hard in 2019. But there is a way to gain subscribers the right way and grow your channel. You have to make consistent content that is engaging your viewers. You need to connect to your audience and reply to your audience when they reach out to you with a question or feeback. #engagedviewers #consistentcontent #jordanhauserdigital

Be Consistent.
Keep uploading videos
Make a schedule that you can stick to
Come up with different types of uploads that you can stick to (2 min tips, vlogs, tutorials, podcast, live session…) all while delivering value to your audience.
Don’t go long periods without engaging your audience. Growth is like a conversation, if you disappear for long periods of time your audience could lose interest in your channel.
Come up with a good work/life balance… or in some cases, a good work/life/youtube balance. Make time to create but don’t lose track of your day-to-day responsibilities.
Editing takes a long time! If you want to make 3 pieces of content per week but can’t find time to edit all of that material, then do a live stream, or a podcast… something that will make it easier to achieve your goals.

Be your authentic self.
This is one of the most important things for growing your channel.
Most people put on a tv personality persona or try to act like someone that they are not in real life. I’m guilty of this.
In order for people to care about you, they need to feel a connection to you. So, be real with people. Get personal, share things about your life that may spark connections with your audience.
Engage your audience.
Answer questions, reply to comments, even the bad ones.
Try to help anyone that is asking questions.
Reach out to your audience with through other platforms OR use the community tab here on youtube. That is exactly why this video is being made.. I reached out to my audience and asked for their feedback. I asked them what types of videos they wanted and how I could create better content that delivered value to them. This video was a request.
Get to know your audience. Get to know the big contributors to your channel, the people that comment and ask questions all of the time… those are the people that you want ALL of your subscribers to be, engaged viewers. You can make some really great connections with people that could lead to collaborations, or even great friendships!
Why are you doing this?
If you don’t know what your channel is about, nobody else will either.
Stay within your niche… but find creative ways to do new things. My channel is about inspiring and sharing my knowledge with beginners who want to start their own channels. So I make videos about cameras, tips for shooting b-roll, editing tips, and audio tricks. But there are times that I want to vlog a trip that I’m taking… So for me, in order to make it fit into my channel’s content, I’m going to shoot tons of b-roll, or have some sort of lesson attached to it.
Niche down, focus on the things you love and your audience will find you.
If you want to educate people then come up with tutorials or tips that your audience will find valuable. For instance, this video was requested. People in my audience want to know how to grow their channels and their subscribers. So I took a few weeks to research the best tips I could find and made this list to share with my audience.
Realize that it’s hard work.
There is no magical formula out there that’s going to take you from 1 to a million subscribers. You have to put in the hard work. If you were building a house by hand, there is no way to snap your fingers and bypass all of the hard work. Learn from every step in the process and adjust your delivery.
Don’t get discouraged. This is easily the most important tip I’m giving you. I understand the struggle. It sucks to spend 5+ hours to make a video to only get 20 views. But you have to just keep uploading. Stick with it and you will learn from your mistakes and ultimately find your groove.
Ask questions, I can’t stress this enough. If you’re watching a fellow creators video and you see something cool, ask them how they did it. Ask your friends what they like and dislike about your videos. Ask what you can do to make them better. Corporations have test groups that they ask these same questions to before they release brand new products or improve products… if it works for them, it’ll work for you.
Tell a complete story. This may sound like a no-brainer… but it’s tough. You want your story to be engaging and lead your audience from point A to point B. When they leave your video, they should feel like they learned something valuable. That’s why they’ll come back and turn into engaged members of your community.
