In this video, we demonstrate how to control an electric motor using the Siemens S7-300 PLC and the SIMATIC Manager software. We start by reviewing the previous steps, including creating a new project, performing the hardware configuration, and setting up the OB1 block. Then, we write a simple yet effective PLC program using basic bit logic instructions such as normally open contacts and set/reset coils to control the motor via a start and stop push button.

We also show how to connect and use a PC adapter to download the program to the real PLC hardware. After downloading the hardware configuration and program to the PLC, we test the system by operating the motor with the start and stop buttons.

Important safety tips are included, such as using a relay between the PLC output and the contactor—especially when working with different voltage levels (e.g., 24V DC PLC output and 220V AC contactor coil)—to protect the PLC from damage.

Whether you’re a beginner or looking to strengthen your practical PLC knowledge, this step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the complete motor control process with real hardware.
