I don't like Clint. I don't think he's a good person with some social anxiety. I don't think he's just shy. I don't think he treats Emily, or potentially the farmer, like friends. Honestly, I think he treats them both like objects to pine after, but eventually give up on when someone actually expresses interest instead of just acting nice and hiding in the corner. I know that some people think he's just awkward, but some of the things he says strike me as the kind of stuff that a misogynist would say to explain away his own awkwardness. I don't like Clint.
