In this video, we’re going to learn how to set up and use QR Code Event Tracking by Scanova QR Code Generator.
00:00 - Introduction
00:49 - Detailed Step to Set-up this feature
01:06 - Steps to create a Landing Page
Let’s say you've created a landing page linked to a Dynamic QR Code via one of Scanova’s QR Code categories such as Social Media, Product, Custom Page, Document, Audio, or Image.
While Dynamic QR Codes allow you to track the number of scans by date, city, country, and device, the feature doesn't tell you how your target audience engaged with the landing page. For example, if you've created a Social Media QR Code, you might want to know how many people clicked on 'Facebook' and how many on 'LinkedIn'.
With 'Event Tracking' you can know how many end-users clicked on the buttons of a landing page created using Scanova.
Note that this feature is available only in the Pro and Enterprise plans.
Let’s get started on how to set up this feature.
First, you need to go to the ‘Settings section of the Dashboard. Go to the ‘Event Tracking’ tab, and enable ‘Event Tracking.’ You can only use this feature if you enable this setting. This setting is disabled by default.
Now let’s create a landing page. I’m going to choose the Custom Page option.
On the page, I’ll create two buttons. Let’s say the first one redirects to scanova.io, and the second will redirect to ticket-generator.com.
In each button section, you’ll notice that a TRACK CLICKS option has appeared. This is because we enabled the Event Tracking setting earlier. When you click on this, it’ll ask you for a Tracking ID. Note that for Event Tracking, we must provide a unique Tracking ID for each button that we want to track.
For the first button, I’m going to add button-scnv and for the second I’ll add button-tg.
Assuming we’ve designed our page, we continue to create the QR Code. I’ll need to enter the name and tags of the QR Code. I’ll skip the advanced settings for now.
The QR Code has been generated. Let’s scan it and see the landing page.
You can see that the landing page has been loaded. I’m going to click on the first button. The Scanova website opens as expected.
I’ll scan the QR Code again and click on the second button this time. As expected, the Ticket Generator website opens.
Let’s go back to the Analytics section to see if our Event Tracking setup worked.
I’ll choose the QR Code in question, choose today’s date, and click on Get Analytics.
The analytics data has been loaded. Scroll down to the Event Tracking section.
The first data point you’ll get is the Engagement Rate. This tells you what percentage of people who scanned the QR Code, engaged with the buttons on the page.
The Total Engagement graph also shows this data in absolute numbers.
In the next graph i.e. the Engagement By QR Code, you’ll see the number of clicks by buttons (or tracking IDs we’d added).
You can also get this data via the Export Analytics button at the top of the page.
This is how you can use Event Tracking to learn how your end-users are engaging with the content you’ve created using Scanova.
