Revitalization of Undeveloped Teeth: The Nevins Technique
In this presentation I am going to introduce a new revitalization technique which has been shown to be effective in treating immature teeth with apical periodontitis.
A scaffold comprised of type 1 collagen containing hydroxyapatite is predictably effective in allowing hard tissue to form within debrided root canals.
Because this new tissue appears fused to the original dentin and forms within the coronal and mid root region of the canal space, this result may leave the teeth more fully developed and less likely to fracture.
The research that Dr. Alan J. Nevins conducted in developing this technique has resulted in several publications over a period of four decades, hence the "The Nevins Technique".
