BMW E61 525D 2005 automatic transmission fluid replacement. Pt1.
Haven't changed the fluid since we got it, so we decide to change it. And it's a good thing, because I was able to unscrew the fil bolt with my fingers. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong filter, since I started doing this Saturday night, I just left it and bought the right one on Monday. There are two stages filling it up. First you you have to do it when it's cold, fill it up until it's starts to came out from the fill bolt, then you start the car and wait for the transmission temperature to be around 30°C. Some people use diagnostic computers to tell them when the transmission gets to 30°C, but I just started it and sickled through the gears, waited a little bit and filled it up until it started to come out from the fill bolt. And just to be safe I took the car for a test drive and when I came back I unscrewed the fill bolt again to see if the fluid was coming out, and it was coming out, so everything was okay. It shifts nice.
