I love building ridiculous things with a chainsaw! This big pine log has been in my way all summer and I finally realized what was inside it. It was such a nice, straight, knot-free log that I hated to chop it up into little pieces. Instead of milling it with the Granberg small log mill, I decided to do a little freehand chainsaw carving with the Stihl 261.
Woodworking with a chainsaw is just about as fun as it gets for me, especially when it is a quick, one-day-or-less project and the result has absolutely no use.
I've been living in the Michigan wilderness in a tent for many months and this was one of the most satisfying projects I've done since moving to the woods.
Off-grid, homestead-style living doesn't mean all work and no play. This is ADULT PLAY and since nobody is looking, I am going to continue to do as I please!
On a side note, homemade milling chains really aren't worth the time. For a few dollars more per loop, get a purpose made chain for milling. They stay sharp for MUCH longer while producing a nicer cut.

Thank you all so much for supporting this crazy endeavor! Without you folks donating to Surviving Ringworm, I wouldn't be able to even consider staying out here in the wilderness a second year making videos. You seriously blow my mind!
