The Role of Design and Art in an AI World with John Maeda
Designers and artists have long used the tools of technology to create and manipulate our world. However, the development of Artificial Intelligence has made people question the role that creators have in the development of some of these works. When computers can imitate styles and create designs that mimic what artists can do, how can humans adjust and thrive in this new age?
In this episode we talk to John Maeda about the future for design and designers in this new paradigm. John was a professor for the MIT Media Lab, the 16th president of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the Author of several books on Design and Technology including The Laws of Simplicity. He’s been featured on publications like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal Magazine, and has permanent collections in the Museum of Modern Art and SFMoma.
John is currently the Vice President of Design and Artificial Intelligence at Microsoft.
