The plot is currently unknown and is scheduled to be released in September 2022.

On November 6 2018, it was revealed in a Variety interview with Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO Illumination, that there are sequels in the works for Shrek and Puss in Boots. He also revealed that he would like to get all the voice actors back from the previous films. The movie is set to be released on September 2022.
