Half-Life 2 - Rediscovered AK47 Beta Animations
During the 2023 Valve gigaleak, the source files for weapon_ar1's viewmodel got leaked. It turns out Valve did create animations for this cut weapon, they just weren't compiled correctly into the leaked model and remained unseen until now.
This is an amateur attempt to visually restore what the AR-1 may have been intended to look like. A few notes:
The arms differed from the other beta viewmodels and appear to be using lost textures, so I had to improvise with the existing beta viewmodel arm textures. The UV mapping of the forearm was adjusted to better fit.
The hands are just black since I couldn't find a good texture match for them. The black leather textures in the flaregun's texture folder did not match.
The bone for the magazine had no parent, so I had to parent it to the right hand's bone. It seemed to do the trick.
