How to improve wordpress email delivery with SMTP - must watch for all Wordpress users!
In this video I walk you through the steps needed to fix any email deliverability issues you may have when using WordPress out of the box. By default WordPress using the php mail function which is often seen as being unreliable and more importantly as spam by most mail providers meaning the email never arrives with the recipient.
So in today’s video I’m going to you how to fix this by using WP Mail SMTP so that all emails sent by your WordPress website are sent using SMTP, ensuring that any emails arrive in the intended recipients inbox.
Steps you'll need to follow to resolve this issue:
1. Before attempting any of these steps we need to make sure that we have our email SMTP settings.
For this we will need the username, password, Outgoing Mail Server and any settings such as ports and SSL/TLS - you can get these from you hosting or email provider.
2. Login to the WordPress dashboard.
3. Go to plugins
4. Click ‘Add New’ at top of the page
5. Search for ‘WP Mail SMTP by WPForms’
6. Click ‘Install Now’
7. Once installed, the button will turn blue and say ‘Activate’ - click it
8. Once activated you’ll get taken to the setup Wizzard.
9. Click ‘Let’s get started’ (orange button).
10. On next page click ‘Other SMTP’
11. Fill in this page:
1. SMTP Host
2. Encryption: SSL (Check with your host)
3. SMTP Port: 465 (Standard SSL port for sending mail)
4. Auto TLS: (Check with your host)
5. Authentication: enabled
6. Enter your SMTP Username
7. Enter your SMTP Password
8. Enter your desired ‘From' name
9. Enter your desired ‘From’ email
10. Force From Email: Enabled
12. Click Save & Continue
12. On next page, click Save & Continue
13. On help improve WP Mail SMTP page - you can skip this
14. Enter your WP Mail SMTP License Key - Skip this step
15. Congrats, you’ve successfully set up WP Mail SMTP! - Finish Set up
16. Finally after you get redirected to the settings page click on ‘Email Test’ and here you can enter your email address
20. If this is successful you have completed the set up.
Well done, all of your emails will now be send using SMTP and be delivered straight to the recipients inbox.
