Tuesday will be another WRAL Weather Alert Day due to the potential for severe storms. The Triangle will be under a Level 2 risk for severe storms. Along the Gulf Coast there is a Level 3 risk for severe storms, which means there will be a line of strong thunderstorms that have the potential to cause widespread damage. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for several counties, from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Severe storms are likely to begin Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. and will last until 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. The severe potential will be greater south and east of the Triangle. Rainfall totals on Tuesday could exceed 2 to 4 inches in some spots. In the Triangle, we could see up to 3 inches of rain. Localized flooding will be a threat, along with damaging winds. We could see wind gusts as strong as 50 to 55 mph Tuesday, approaching severe-level winds of 58 mph.
