00:00 Ok, we're just wrapping up here at BMW of Charlotte. We are in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a Hendrick store and this was a seventeen-panel job with four shelves.
00:13 And, I've got a lot of information, so I've got to go fast...
00:15 Here you can see there are some steel paneling they had on these walls when we arrived here. There is a before video here: • BMW CHARLOTTE BEFORE (T.O.S) if you care to see that.
00:21 They had a bunch of cables and test harnesses up on the panels. We took all those down. We re-purposed it for these fixtures to give them a place, a home. So they have a place to get back to.
00:30 This shows you their seventeen panels. It's all numerical. Everything has a tag with a picture...and a number. So, if you come in the tool room looking for it you can have the BMW tool number or the car tool number you can find that tool.
00:45 This shows you going down through there. This shows you their shelves. We take these little totes and we make them up kits by getting all their stuff out of cardboard boxes. Some tools there are a bunch of different components to them like this N20 TIMING TOOLS. And, the guys like to put a bunch of stuff together for that particular job, we put it all in kits and we label them nice. The shelves are labeled. So, you can see, that's on shelf "1C" cause that's where it comes back to.
01:17 Another thing the guys like to have, here is a wheel bearing cart that keeps everything in one place. They just roll that out and do their job and when they are done they bring it back.
01:29 We also hung up their cables at the end of their tool system. We left room to grow and then we hung up all their cables and they are also in numerical sequence. The essential cables that they need, but don't have, we left an open spot for.
01:42 Over here, this shows you their employee's dog tags. These dog tags are up here when a mechanic comes into the tool room to get a tool, he takes his number...his dog tag and he puts it where he retrieved the tool from. That way, everyone knows who has that tool. When the tool is returned he places his dog tag back - real simple, basic system, but it works really well.
02:01 Over here, we have another little tool box where we have organized their spring compressors. It shows all their spring compressors are in this box. So, when they are working on a spring they know where to go to get it.
02:17 Ok. And, like I said, we put all them fixtures up their and gave them a home.
02:21 We worked for David here at Hendrick BMW. This was a six-day job. And, with that, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to shut er' down.
