1. Seriously. Get a good lawyer. I am NOT a fighter. And if you’re going into an actual legal BATTLE and you’re not a fighter then you need to hire a good fighter. Trust me, it’s gonna cost you a LOT more on the backend. Now, if you just want it to be over quickly and you’ll practically give up your life savings to be free of that person. That can be healing in its own way. (But seriously, if you get a good lawyer that pry relieves a lot of stress too but I wouldn’t know cause I cheaped out lol)
2. Start Therapy!!! I learned so much that probably sounds basic to most. But learning to have a create boundaries is awesome lol.
2.5 My 3 fave homework assignments that I found most useful:
-write out what you want your life to look like in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years. This helps you see what’s really important and helps you start thinking of steps to take to get there.
-Read the following books: “Dating Radar” & “Co-Dependent No More”
-write out non-negotiables in man so you don’t waste time with what you logically know isn’t for you.
3. Reach out to friends and family. The people who really love you REALLY WANT TO HELP!!! Most the time they just don’t know how so you need to communicate with them.
4. This is quite literally not the end of the world even tho it may feel like it sometimes. It’s the end of what you deep down know is a not great chapter of your story. But it was a necessary one to get to where you are now. Take the lessons, learn, and move on. What some consider a setback you can turn into a comeback 🫶🏻
