Setup and review of Google's 2nd-gen Nest Mini smart speaker, touring the new features compared with the original Home Mini.
Using the Home app you can get connected to the Google Nest Mini in a minute or so and then you have a dinky Assistant device that fits neatly into any room in your house. You get all kinds of upgrades versus the original mini smart speaker, including a new triple far-field mic arrangement and improved sound quality. You get a more clear audio output with 40% more bass, although I still wouldn't rock out to metal music on it.
One of the other new features is the addition of a machine learning chip, so the Nest Mini doesn't have to go to Google's servers for some of the main Assistant features. However, this is a US-only feature at the time of launch. Boo.
Stay tuned for my full Pixel 4 reviews as well as more on the rest of Google's new 2019 kit, like the updated WiFi router and Pixel Buds.
