Google Maps has more uses other than just providing you with general directions. You can measure distances and areas on the map with it. You can only do this on its website though, as the app doesn't support it yet.
Step:
1. Go to Google Maps.
2. Identify a location.
3. Measuring the Area
4. Initiate the distance measuring function.
5. Identify the first point.
6. Identify the second point.
7. Identify the third point.
8. Identify more points.
9. Close the area.
10. Measure the area.
