How to Make a Timeline in Google Docs
This video shows you how to create a timeline in Google Docs. The timeline illustrated shows a project cycle timeline, but the same principles could be just as easily used to draw a historical timeline in Google Docs or a timeline for any subject matter really.
1. First, change your Google Doc to Landscape Orientation
2. Then use the drawing canvas by insert 'drawing' into doc.
3. Use the drawing arrow tool to dray the timeline horizontally.
4. Use the drawing text box tool to create time stage labels
5. Copy and past them along the timeline to preserve the same style.
6. Use the line tool to draw the time stages and the text box tool to label the time stages.
7. Move some time stages below the timeline to balance the timeline.
8. Insert a picture into drawing area to enhance the time descriptions if you wish
9. Make sure the snap-to guides are turned on to make placing of objects easier in terms of alignment and balance
10. Save the drawing and then double click it to go back in and re-edit it.
