Toyota Unveils Its Lunar Cruiser Concept
The concept vehicle looks a bit like a 6-wheeled SUV, with twin headlights, antennas and a massive solar panel — and it could be on the moon as soon as 2029. The cruiser will give astronauts a safe and mobile base from which to operate while exploring the moon surface. During daylight hours, solar energy will be used to separate the on-board water supply into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis. The hydrogen will be used to power the cruiser's fuel cells during the lunar nights, which last 14 Earth days and can get down to minus 130 degrees celsius.
