From the ethereal to the material — an exploration of color.
Color is elemental to how we experience the world around us. Early on, we use it to explore and understand our surroundings. Over time, we look to color for inspiration and use it in a variety of forms to express ourselves. We also discover that while some of us may perceive the same color somewhat differently, many of us are likely to pucker our lips at the sight of a bright, lemon-like yellow.
We now know through neuroscience how some colors have been shown to affect our mood and behavior, from evoking real feelings of excitement and high-energy to promoting actual calmness and tranquility.
One way or another, and even when it defies description, color has the power to simultaneously create sensations and play on our perceptions––silently speaking to us in both subtle and stunning ways.
Today, in this experiential contemplation on the sensorial qualities of color, we ask: What does color sound like? Feel like? Look like? Smell like? Taste like?
Moment by moment, we are making sense of color.
