Melbourne-bred Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been welcomed back to his hometown with a mural dubbing the city ‘Ange Town.’
Local artist Kosta Drossos has depicted the seven stages of the English Premier League manager's career, starting at his boyhood club South Melbourne FC.
Located at Penance cafe on Carlton Street in Prahan, the suburb where ‘Big Ange’ grew up after moving from Greece at the age of five, Drossos was inspired to pay homage to this journey, which was similar to how his own family first came to Australia.
“Some people who passed by as the mural was going up stopped in their tracks due to recognising him, and would share stories of growing up with him,” he said.
Spurs are set to take on Newcastle United in a friendly match at the MCG as a part of Global Football Week - Melbourne.
Watch the clash live on 10 Bold, with kick-off at 7:45pm AEST.
