Virtual Reality gaming is not new and you must have heard of HTC Vive VR, Oculus and even Samsung VR headsets, but what they all lack is either having the room to freely roam in the virtual world or you can't roam at all. With HTC Vive, you can free roam, but not with you and your friends.
I went to Madrid to check out Zero Latency, ahead of its launch in the UK, starting with Nottingham; If you've tried laser quest before, you'll know how boring it quickly gets and how limited it is when it comes to the gaming options available. With Zero Latency, you get a free-roam virtual reality experience that lets you and your friends explore virtual worlds as you do in real life.
You're taken inside a game where your body is the controller and you are very immersed that your mind believes it's real. When you're in the map and you're getting in a lift, going from one room into another, shooting up zombies, you forget where you are and you really get into it.
It's a unique combination of technology, software and pure imagination that transports you to the ultimate virtual world for you and your friend to compete or work together. At the end of the gaming session, you get a scoreboard so you can see who the best is.
The free roaming space is big enough to fit 8 players and is rigged to allow free movement. You get a backpack with an alienware PC gaming system attached, a weapon and the VR headset itself before getting involved. The weapon itself is a custom-made simulated weapon and game controller and the VR headset features a 2K resolution for the best graphics and level of detail and a Razer headphone and microphone for surround sound and communication between players. At the moment, you can play Zombie Survival, three more games are coming soon.
