This is a basic essential EQ guide to anybody starting out on mixing drums

EQ is your best friend when it comes to carving out space in your mix ⬇️
Start by removing any unwanted frequencies,
especially in the low end (kick) and high end (hats/cymbals).
This will give each drum element its own space and allow the overall mix to breathe.
Apply a low-cut filter on your kick drum around 20-40 Hz
and a low cut filter on your hi-hats around 500Hz - 2kHz depending on the genre
It’s simple but will get you in a great place to start your mixing journey
