Warren Reyburn, who passed away in 2000, earned a half dozen medals fighting in World War II, but never received most of them, and the one he did receive, a Purple Heart, was stolen.
It was around Thanksgiving in 2014 that Reyburn's son Paul had his home burglarized, with his father's Purple Heart was among the items stolen.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, after hearing of Reyburn's loss, set about to help him replace the medal. It was while she was looking to his replacement Purple Heart she discovered other medals he hadn't received for his time in the Pacific -- notably a Bronze Star.
