We started filming this episode, the story of Russia's oldest homeless aid foundation "Nochlezhka", in January 2022. We were working on the script in early February 2022. Then February 24th happened, and all our ideas and filming, like many other things, lost their meaning.
Two years later, we felt it was important to go back to that time, look at ourselves and the country then, and realize how the ideas and meanings that seemed significant to us have completely changed after 24 months. Or simply ceased to exist.
To start with, "Nochlezhka" Director Grigory Sverdlin is on the federal wanted list. He has left Russia and now helps young men who don't want to kill or be killed for someone else's ambitions avoid mobilization.
"Nochlezhka" still exists. The homeless haven't gone anywhere, their number hasn't decreased, though something in the stories of those who lost themselves and their homes has changed.
