During New York Fashion Week, artist Bjarne Melgaard staged "The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment" to accompany a new exhibit of his line of distressed, destroyed and deconstructed fashion. During the event, Bjarne gave away his collection of designer clothes worth half a million dollars. People waited in line for hours for a chance to participate in the "purge," and those who made it inside were allowed to take as much clothing as they could fit into a plastic bag over a period of five minutes, leading to scenes of frantic, dystopian consumerism. Creators was there to capture the highs and lows and reactions of those who attended, and interview Babak Radboy, Bjarne's art director and collaborator, about the value of creating a disappointing consumerist experience. The exhibit "The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment", is open at Red Bull Arts New York until April 9th.
