how to measure volts with a multimeter ?
Tools Needed:
Digital Multimeter
Protective gloves (optional)
Steps:
Safety First:
Stand on a dry surface and use insulated tools if available.
Set Up Your Multimeter:
Set the dial to AC voltage (V~), and choose a range higher than your expected household voltage (200V).
Prepare the Probes:
Insert the black probe into the COM port.
Insert the red probe into the VΩmA port.
Measure the Voltage:
Insert the black probe into the neutral slot (larger slot).
Insert the red probe into the hot slot (smaller slot).
Read the voltage displayed on the multimeter (around 120V or 230V).
Turn Off and Store:
Remove the probes, turn off the multimeter, and store it properly.
Tips:
Check settings: Ensure the multimeter is on the correct setting.
Handle with care: Avoid touching the metal parts of the probes.
