Rape culture is a cycle perpetuated when sexual violence against women is normalized and allowed. In this talk, Kenzie will identify and examine the behaviors that define rape culture and allow it to continue, while speaking on how as a society we can lessen the prevalence of these toxic attitudes—calling on personal experiences that inspired her love for this work. Kenzie is a senior at HPA from Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. She experienced sexual violence for the first time in middle school, the catalyst for her interest in fighting against sexual exploitation and rape culture. She plans to work in sex trafficking prevention after completing a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
