MiCOM Agile P442 and P444 numerical full scheme distance relays provide flexible and reliable protection, control and monitoring of transmission and sub-transmission lines. They include full scheme 6-zone distance, plus aided directional earth fault (DEF) and comprehensive backup protection for utility lines and cables at all voltage levels, particularly oriented towards transmission grids.

S1 Agile is the truly universal IED engineering tool suite for MiCOM P40 Agile relays. All tools are assembled in a palette for simple entry, with intuitive navigation via a few mouse-clicks. S1 Agile supports all existing MiCOM P40 Agile range.

In these series of lectures on configuration of Micom P444 and P442 Relays using S1 Agile software, we will cover all the practical aspects of Micom P444/2 Relay configuration using Micom S1 Agile software. This series is spread across three parts as detailed below:

1. Part-1: Configuration of BI/BO and Description of various settings of P444/2 Relay.

2. Part-2: How to configure PSL in Micom P442/4 Relay.

3. Part-3: Creation of MCL Files and IEC61850 engineering of Micom P442/4 Relay.

Programmable scheme logic (PSL) allows the user to customise
the protection and control functions. It is also used to program
the functionality of the optically isolated inputs, relay outputs,
LED indications, InterMiCOM (control input) and virtual
input/ouput using GOOSE. The programmable scheme logic
comprises gate logic and general purpose timers. The gate logic
includes OR, AND and majority gate functions, with the ability to
invert the inputs and outputs, and provide feedback. All aspects of
MiCOM P40 IED configuration are managed using the MiCOM S1
Agile software and are discussed in detail in this session.

An incredible amount of time and effort is needed to develop high-quality video tutorials. Each video takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete which includes learning the concept myself, brainstorming creative ways to teach and explain the concepts, creating the presentations (if delivered through PPT mode), Setup of analysis software, video recording, and editing.
