A sacroiliac (SI) belt, or trochanteric belt, offers stability to unstable sacroiliac joints and provides almost immediate pain relief when the pain is being caused by instability in the sacroiliac joints through overly stretched SI ligaments.

The sacroiliac (SI) joint can be a cause of chronic low back pain, hip pain, and sciatica that is many times unresponsive to physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and other medical treatments.

While an SI belt can provide dramatic pain relief it is critical that the person wearing it understand where and how to wear it for the best pain relief. All too often I see people wearing their SI belt in the wrong location or with improper SI belt tension. In that situation they get little if any pain relief and feel like the belt isn't working.

In this video we cover some frequently asked questions about sacroiliac belts including:

As a chiropractor, I many times will see patients who have had chiropractic adjustments over and over with no lasting relief of their back pain, hip pain, tailbone region pain, or sciatica pain only to determine in their physical exam that their sacroiliac joint is not stuck and therefore does not need a chiropractic adjustment. The sacroiliac joint can become hypermobile (unstable) and in that case a chiropractic adjustment will not give anything but temporary pain relief. What a person with sacroiliac joint instability really needs is something to help stabilize the SI joint, like a Serola belt. That is when an SI belt, and how to wear an SI belt, is so important.

If you have been dealing with chronic back pain, hip pain, or sciatica pain and are finding it hard to get lasting pain relief, it could be that your SI joints are unstable and an SI belt might really help you. Make sure you are working with your doctor to determine the exact cause of your pain so you can find a solution. I hope this video helps you find the relief you deserve soon.
