What I wrote on my bookmark:
When my coffee cools to a lukewarm and then downright cold, I am back in New York. I am slow to drink, trying to sit in the cafe as long as I can. In my mind, I am in the Village, but I could easily be in Union Square, camped out in the back room of Think or the second floor of La Maison.
It is Saturday or Sunday, I have no plans but to wander, to get lost. To walk the streets I know like the back of my hand, but that will always surprise me.
A door will appear where there was a window, a park bench will call my name. All from thee last half of a cup of coffee, gone cold.
