The film starts with a group of fifth graders getting a homework assignment for them to understand Ataturk better. This assignment will become a long and educational journey through Ataturk’s life and the founding of Turkey. The award-winning historian “Grandpa” will be leading them during this journey. But this “Grandpa” is not like other historians. He is more like a historian of a fantastic world. He tells the kids about Ataturk’s childhood, his school life and academic career. He takes them to the front lines of the Freedom War and introduces them to the unique heroes of Turkey. He tells about Ataturk’s admirable traits and the work this country put into founding the Republic, sometimes using acting, and other times making use of real photographs and videos from the past.
