Spin-wave resonances in magnetic systems may be exploited for the amplification of weak magnetic signals and could mediate long-distance interaction between spin qubits. Potential applications are nanoscale magnetometery with single-spin sensitivity and spin-based quantum computing. In this talk, Toeno van der Sar presents techniques to probe spin waves using single electronic spins in diamond as nanoscale magnetic field sensors. He observes spin-wave mediated amplification of magnetic fields applied to a ferromagnetic mocrodisc, and provide broadband characterization of the spin-wave spectrum through mulit-pulse sensing techniques and single-spin relaxometry.
