The Dow, S&P500 and NASDAQ hit bear market (more than 20% drop) territory after May inflation numbers came out. This was due to stimulus and low interest rates from the Fed to combat the economic slowdown from the pandemic. With inflation, supply chain issues, war and reduced company earnings, the short term scenario looks quite bleak.
This video goes into the importance of having a long term outlook on the market. Over long periods of time, the stock market has time and again been proven to be a great wealth builder. WE just have to ride out the short term volatility.
Having an emergency fund in place, staying employed, investing consistently and tuning out the negativity of the short term will enable us to emerge as winners when the market recovers.
