A bilateral total knee replacement is a procedure that replaces both of the patient's knees at the same time. It is recommended for patients with severe arthritis in both knees or other conditions that have caused significant damage to the knee joint. The procedure involves removing the damaged knee joints from both knees and replacing them with artificial knees called prostheses.
Following surgery, the patient will be required to use crutches or a walker for several weeks, and physical therapy will be recommended to regain strength and mobility.
