Mellon Professor of the Humanities, Johns Hopkins University Moderator: Ken Wissoker, Director of Intellectual Publics and Senior Executive Editor of Duke University Press
Description* Jack Halberstam and Jane Bennett will write up, call in, thrum to the poetry of wildness and meet in a vibratory encounter designed not to explain or judge but to dilate, to influence, and to disorder. We will speak of desire and non-human worlds. We will shift our two books, Wild Things: The Disorder of Desire and Influx and Efflux: Writing Up with Walt Whitman into each other’s orbits and let shapes of a conversation emerge. Attending to process, luxuriating in profusion, we will seek multitudes and migrations and we will not force them into coherence or congruence. Please join us to celebrate these books, to embrace bewilderment and to contemplate the erotics of the wild.
