Last summer, I got my hands on a 1977 Suzuki GS750; now its time to convert it into a cafe racer; it is a learning curve for me; I am doing this for the first time and with the primary goal of learning more about motorcycles, share my learnings with you and learn from you as well, so don’t hesitate to provide feedback in the comment section below, whenever negative or positive, we are here to learn.
In this video, I am going to replace the seat, which I really don’t like; I am also going to remove the rear mudguard - I am not planning to drive this motorcycle in the rain, even though my goal is to use it daily, and to be honest, I drove it once in the rain, and the guard did not help much, the back was wet in no time.
The seat I am using is a very simple one, more oriented towards an experiment; as I try it out and fit the comfort, I might consider upgrading to something more sturdy. Okay, the process itself is very straightforward; the old seat was not even attached, so it was removed with no effort; now I am taking out 4 bolts and removing the mudguard.
As a next step, there are multiple combinations and attachments for the new sit. To fit various motorcycles, I am adding one that would go under the tank to prevent it from moving, and 2 other attachments would slide just in the frame; later on, I am welding an attachment to the frame to secure it to the seat or find another option. Right now, I will keep it as is, as there are many other things I need to care about before it's secured, like the wiring of the motorcycle, as currently nothing works, brake light, turn signals, etc.
So here is how it looks; I like it much better than the previous seat, tell me what you think.
As this is just the beginning, in the next episode, I am going to deal with the damaged tank, stuck brakes and wiring issues. Stay tuned! Cheers.
