⚠️ Spoiler alert: Transudate causes
I asked you to name THREE causes!
Transudates DO NOT (typically) fulfill lights criteria. Examples are similar to the three major causes of peripheral oedema:
☑️ congestive cardiac failure
☑️ cirrhosis
☑️ nephrotic syndrome
Also…
☑️ protein losing enteropathy
☑️ Meigs syndrome
Think of exudates as ‘thick’ fluids (infections/cancers) and transudates as ‘thin’ fluids
