What is a negative reciprocal? The negative reciprocal of a fraction is found by flipping the numerator and denominator and then multiplying by negative one. Note that any number can be made to look like a fraction by putting it over one. For example, the negative reciprocal of 4 is -(1/4). Also note that if two lines are perpendicular then the slope of one is the negative reciprocal of the other.
