How to record on Mac with two Apogee MiCs in GarageBand

In this tutorial we will show you how to connect and use two Apogee MiCs at the same time in GarageBand.
You will need to be running 10.6.8 or higher on your Mac and the latest version of GarageBand 11
First connect both MiCs to the USB ports on your Mac.
Keep track of which one you plugged in first.
In the utilities folder, Open Audio MIDI Setup.
You will see both MiCs listed
Click on the add button to add a new aggregate device
The MiC that you plugged in first will be listed first.
Click on the first MiC which will be audio input 1, and then the second MiC which will be audio input 2
You will now see both MiC's listed in the Aggregate device
Close Audio MIDI Setup and launch GarageBand
There are a few different options when you launch GarageBand... The two that would most likely be used with MiC would be "Voice" or "Acoustic Instrument"
Voice opens with plug ins already enabled that effect the sound of the voice or instrument. "Acoustic Instrument" does not have effects on the track but you can add them when needed.
To add a second track click on the plus button at the bottom of the screen. Choose "Real Instrument"
Click on GarageBand, Preferences...
and then Audio MIDI
For "Audio Input" choose "Aggregate Device"
Make sure "Audio Output" is set to "Built-in Output"
To record more than one track at a time in GarageBand, click on "Track" "Enable Multitrack Recording"
Select the first track
Set "Input source" to "Mono 1"
Set "Monitor" to ON
Click on the second track
Set "Input source" to "Mono 2"
Set "Monitor" to "ON"
Arm both tracks and you are now ready to record using both MiCs at the same time.
