Resize A Virtual Hard Drive In VirtualBox...The Easy Way
In this tutorial, we will increase the size of a primary hard drive within a VirtualBox virtual machine, using tools available from the VirtualBox user interface.
In our previous tutorial in this series, we achieved the same outcome using commands entered at the Windows Command Prompt, but this can be greatly simplified using the tools already provided through the VirtualBox G.U.I. This technique can be applied to guest operating systems of all types, although note that you may subsequently need to configure the additional storage within the virtual machine using the appropriate disk management utility for the guest operating system.
As this tutorial requires a dynamically allocated .vdi file, and some installations will instead use a fixed type, we conclude by demonstrating a simple copying process by which we can convert a fixed file to a dynamic one, and vice versa.
