Even with the changes outlined for masterwork cores / bounties, I do think this farming method will still be useful to get cores. Moreover, it's also a great way of getting mod components, especially considering there are currently no plans to have any bounties that rewards mod components, as well as the high cost of purchasing year 2 mods from Banshee.
This strategy works best when Spider is trading Simulation Seeds or Seraphite (kept forgetting the name!) for Legendary shards. On these days, you can get 5 simulation seeds or 5 seraphite for 1 legendary shard.
The simulation seed / seraphite trade works best because any shaders you get, can be broken down for additional shards, but this method is likely worth it with any material.
