Not Actually Learning
So many people have been conditioned to believe that if you're not sitting down with your nose in a book or a pen and paper in hand then you must not be learning.
The truth is, learning happens in so many ways (and yes that does include book work). But for kids, especially younger kids, a big chunk of that learning happens through play. Especially unstructured, outdoor play.
I can't stress enough how important this is. So I let my kids have as much time to do this as possible (even if we have to put the books aside to make it happen).
