Russia-Ukraine War: Russian forces launch 16 overnight aerial attacks on Ukraine as war escalates
On the night of August 17-18, 2024, the Russians struck Ukraine with ballistic missiles from the Kursk and Voronezh oblasts, cruise missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and Shahed-type loitering bombs from Russia's Kursk Oblast.
Anti-aircraft missile units from Ukraine's Air Force, mobile shooting groups from Ukraine's defense forces, and electronic warfare units in Kyiv, Sumy, and Poltava oblasts had shot down 13 aerial targets.
-2 KN-23 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles (type to be determined) and 8 Shahed-131/136 hovering munitions.
