As the epidemic continues, more and more businesses are starting to deploy thermal cameras for fever screenings. Although thermal cameras are quick and easy, they can be thrown off by hot drinks, cold drinks, and even hats. On Thursday, the National Health Research Institutes unveiled a thermal scanner that''s harder to fool. Harnessing AI, this system can detect whether or not the source of the heat is a person''s body.

The device uses several camera sensors to feed images through an AI processor that can recognize whether the heat is coming from a person''s face. The system can screen several people at once and issue an alert when it detects an abnormal temperature. The institute says they have already received inquiries from several countries in Southeast Asia.
