This video looks at the classic Miles Davis tune, So What, from the album Kind of Blue. This tutorial focuses on the classic so what chord voicings, also known as quartal voicings, showing you how to construct these for any minor seventh chord. It also looks at improvisation ideas and suitable scales for improvising over this tune. Finally, it covers two left hand techniques for solo jazz piano playing -constructing a simple walking bassline, and a left hand chordal accompaniment.

Fun trivia : The album Kind of Blue, recorded in 1959, is still the best selling jazz record of all time, and still sells over 5000 copies a week. Amazingly, the whole album was recorded in just 7 hours, and every single tune bar one was recorded in one take! This album was had a huge impact on jazz and changed the shape of the jazz that was to follow in later years.
