Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has sent a letter to the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee about content moderation on his online social platform Meta. Zuckerberg claims that the White House pressured Meta to censor posts about COVID.

The CEO said that the White House “repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content.” This content allegedly even included satire and humor posts, according to Zuckerberg. “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”

The Supreme Court ruled in June that the White House and other federal agencies can urge social media platforms to remove content they may view as misinformation or disinformation.
