Want to build your first Android app? Join me as we build a grocery delivery app using Android Studio 3.6 and Kotlin. My 2020 edition tutorial series is still relevant but slightly outdated since Google updated Android Studio to use nav components and fragments for a basic setup. So I decided to start over.

Never created an app before? Watch and learn.

In this tutorial we'll download and install the software we need, setup an emulator and run the default app. After that we'll get started creating our UI, first an ImageView then using ConstraintLayout to reposition elements in our app.

Virtually all Android apps are created using Android Studio and increasingly more and more apps are built entirely in Kotlin. All apps I've built for the past two years have been in Kotlin and I don't miss the previous language.

This grocery delivery app will be entirely native and by the end will be ready to deploy to Google Play.
